Impact Sport - Update

Hear from the U's Head of Sports Science on the Impact partnership

CAMBRIDGE United have teamed up with Impact Sport to provide the U's first-team, academy and scholars with Impact’s range of sports nutrition products.

Impact Sport is a completely unique concept. There are a huge number of sports nutrition companies, the vast majority of which produce products that have no evidence based research to back up the marketing led claims they make. They use cheap ingredients and contain artificial additives that actually can be harmful to long term health (for adults, let alone youngsters). The few reputable companies that use evidence based research with their products focus their efforts on the adult market only.

There is not one single sports nutrition company that produces anything specifically for young developing athletes, until now. Impact Sport was formed to fill the gap for the definite need to offer healthy sports nutrition for young athletes giving them the specific vitamins and minerals they need that they simply wouldn't get from adult focussed products.

All of Impact Sport's products are free from artificial colours, flavours and preservatives and are batch tested by HFL Sport Science meaning they are cleared by WADA (World Anti Doping Association) for consumption by elite athletes.

Impact are passionate about assisting the next generation of sporting stars in the UK and nutrition and hydration habits play a vital role in progressing athletic performance. Impact Sports currently supply teams from grassroots clubs to Premier League academies.

Impact Sport are delighted to agree a partnership with Cambridge United FC to become the clubs official sports nutrition supplier. This agreement involves Impact Sport working closely with Matt Walker and the coaches at Cambridge United to ensure that players from under 9's through to the first-team are consuming the correct products to maximise health and performance.

U's Head of Sports Science, Matt Walker comments on the partnership:  "Our new partnership with Impact has begun very well with many supportive comments from Academy parents with players using the products from the start of 2014 and with the scholar group.   In my role of Head of Sport Science it is crucial that we look to cater for the highest quality products, training and match-day resources for the players within our care from the youngest Academy player to the most senior in the 1st team squad. Clearly there are financial limitations to this but that just means we have to be even more resourceful and use even more initiative to gain the best possible advantage over our opponents. The fact we are recommending an evidence based product with no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives plus having minimal sugar level matches our view of providing products that promote wellness and health compared to many on the market. We really believe that the use of Impact will benefit our players in their work and recovery."

He continued: "It is testament to our beliefs that Impact products are used by the likes of Southampton FC who have been at the cutting edge of innovative development with their players for many years now producing players capable of performing at the highest level. We are hoping that we can begin to work toward specific bespoke products for our football club especially at 1st team level as the relationship develops but for now the products have proved highly beneficial in our recovery from a relentless period of games and training as we approach the end of the season and our tenth consecutive month of physical work."

As part of our partnership with Impact they have kindly passed on a 10% discount on all products ordered via their site www.impactsportscience.co.uk entering the discount code 'cufc' before you place your order.
