Barry Corr has been named Assistant Head Coach following a change in the First Team management structure…
The former United striker joined the Club’s coaching staff in July 2019 as Academy Development Coach before combining this role in January 2020 to become St Neots Town Manager, as part of the prior collaboration between the two Clubs.
After success with St Neots, Corr worked with the U's First Team for the second half of the Club's promotion-winning season from League Two. His position as First Team coach was officially confirmed at the beginning of the 2021/22 season.
He now makes the step up to Assistant Head Coach alongside Kevin Betsy, to support Head Coach Mark Bonner for the upcoming season.
“I have absolutely loved my time working with Mark and the rest of the staff for the past two years and I am really pleased to step up to this new role,” Corr said.
“My belief in the people and direction of the Club means that I know I am in the right place to continue developing and I am excited about taking on the further responsibilities that come with the new role.”
Mark Bonner added, “I am pleased to confirm the coaching staff ahead of another important season for us. One of my motivations when constructing this support structure was to move away from the traditional hierarchy of an Assistant Head Coach and a First Team Coach.
“This structure will empower Barry, enabling him to continue to develop further and provide valuable input, whilst recognising the importance and quality of his contribution to me and the rest of the staff.
“Having welcomed Kevin this summer, the impact that he can have around the group is already evident and he has settled in seamlessly.
“Martin continues to develop our goalkeepers on an individual basis, and is another integral member of the coaching staff.
“Supported by the other members of the backroom team, we have a team of highly skilled people, motivated and united for the challenges ahead of us.
“Having now worked together for a month, I can see the strength, balance and skill set of the team. I look forward to attacking the season with them.”
