Cambridge United Foundation (CUF) was delighted to invite Mark Bonner to present Bex Houghton, PE subject leader and Year 6 teacher at Milton Primary School, with an ‘Inspirational Teacher of the Year’ award…
The Foundation wanted to recognise Bex’s tireless efforts in going above and beyond to promote sporting opportunities for all pupils at Milton during the past academic year.
After winning local competitions, Milton teams have also represented Cambridge United at regional level with great distinction. All these events have required significant additional work from Bex, a fact for which Cambridge United Foundation are grateful.
In addition to organising numerous teams for tournaments in a variety of sports, and promoting a strong sporting culture at school, Bex also organised a careers fair for older pupils, which CUF was delighted to attend. She has also been incredibly supportive of the wider work of the Foundation, welcoming new members of our coaching team to Milton and participating in many of our educational programmes.
Bex said of her award, “It has been a pleasure working alongside your team over the years and I have loved going to all the tournaments.
“The two girls’ tournaments the last couple of years couldn't have been more different with great successes last year but losses this year but I enjoyed them just as much as each other as the girls all had the best time.
“Seeing all of the kids being given the chance to play in competitions has been so amazing and I feel very lucky that you guys have invited us to represent you. Thank you so much for the award!”
Tim Walker, CUF’s Head of Education added, “We are delighted to present Bex with an Inspirational Teacher Award in recognition of her fantastic work in promoting sport at Milton Primary School.
“Our mission at Cambridge United Foundation is to use the power of sport to inspire, and Bex encapsulates this perfectly in the way she goes above and beyond to provide sporting opportunities for her pupils. We are proud to be expanding our partnership with Milton Primary School as we look ahead to the 2023/24 academic year.”
