United break Guinness World Record™ for Most Signatures on a Shirt

The World Record breaking Cambridge United shirt

Cambridge United have broken the Guinness World Record for Most Signatures on a Piece of Sports Memorabillia...

Two months ago, the Club undertook the challenge to break the record of 2089 - set by Japanese football team, Kawasaki Frontale.

After going out all across the community equipped with boxes of sharpies and a 40XL replica shirt, we are pleased to confirm the record is now ours after gaining 2146 signatures.

Senior Guinness World Record Adjudicator, Glenn Pollard, officially announced the achievement at half-time of Saturday's game against Shrewsbury Town, handing over the commemorative certificate to CEO Alex Tunbridge, Supporter Engagement Officer, Amelia Edwards, Pete Collins from Mills & Reeve Solicitors - who helped verify the count - and Chris Neild from CUSP.

"Everyone at the Club is very pleased to have beaten the World Record and for it to belong to Cambridge United," CEO Alex Tunbridge said.

"The purpose of embarking on the challenge was to enable us to engage with new communities within our City and it has been great to see the shirt in so many different locations and for so many people to have played their part in achieving the record.

"On behalf of the Club I would like to thank all of the staff and volunteers who have helped coordinate the attempt and to all the supporters who took part."
