Cambridge United are pleased to announce the loan signing of Dom Ballard…
The England U20 international joins on loan from Southampton until the end of the season.
Just a few months after signing his first professional contract, Ballard scored against the U’s on his First Team debut in August 2022, as the Saints won 3-0 at the Cledara Abbey Stadium in the EFL Cup.
He has since featured for Reading and Blackpool on loan, scoring again against United during the 4-4 draw against the Seasiders earlier this season.
Ballard said, “I am really looking forward to it. Hopefully I can come in and really make a difference to the team. The gaffer has said that they are in need of a goalscorer and a hero and that really appealed to me.”
“I am delighted to welcome Dom to the Club,” Garry Monk added. “He has been one of our primary targets throughout the month so to get him through the door is very pleasing. He is a talented young striker and is ready to make an impact on the team.”
Ballard will wear the number 29 shirt whilst with the U’s.
