Cambridge United Scholars have been taking the UEFA C Coaching Qualification, delivered by David Bridges from the PFA...
The course focuses on four main pillars: The Coach, The Environment, The Player, and The Game. As part of the course, they have been planning and delivering sessions to our Academy schoolboys in line with the Club’s topic of the week.
Head of Academy Education, Harsh Joshi said, "The UEFA C qualification has a direct link with the BTEC Coaching unit the second-year scholars are currently studying therefore, both courses work hand in hand.
"Planning and delivering sessions to the Academy schoolboys will give them great experience putting the theory learnt into practice.
"It is vital to the qualification that all scholars have an awareness of their roles and responsibilities as a football coach and that they create a learning environment whilst coaching.
"The course is also a great reflection of their own experiences as a player coming through the Academy and to make sure they are delivering sessions back to their highest ability to the schoolboys."
David Bridges, PFA, added, "It's the first opportunity for the boys to experience coaching.
"Obviously, their focus right now is playing but coaching is something that many of them will need, whether that be in the near future or if they go on to have successful playing careers and then need coaching at a later date.
"The skills they pick up along the way can also help them become better players in the short term, as well as potential coaches in the future.”
The players are expected to complete the Qualification in the coming weeks.
