Cambridge United are delighted to announce the signing of Jordan Cousins on a one-year-deal…
The 29-year-old midfielder joins from Wigan Athletic and becomes the Club’s fourth arrival this summer.
Cousins made his professional breakthrough at Charlton Athletic, where he came through the Academy to establish himself as a key member of the squad, winning the Addicks 2014/15 Player of the Season.
His impressive performances meant Queens Park Rangers came calling in 2016, where he made 70 appearances across three seasons with the R’s. Further moves to Stoke City and then Wigan Athletic followed, spending two seasons at each Club.
He now joins the U’s ahead of the 2023/24 season with 235 Championship appearances to his name, adding plenty of pedigree to Mark Bonner’s squad.
Cousins said, “I am delighted to have it done and to be in the building. I got a feeling [from my initial meeting] around the place, meeting the manager and seeing things that this is the right Club for me.
“I just want to get amongst it now and embed myself into the team. I am ready to go and get stuck in.”
Mark Bonner said. “Jordan is an excellent signing, and brings with him bags of experience at Championship level and winning experience in League One. He reads the game superbly, is tactically wise, powerful and will help us greatly.
"I am really looking forward to working with him and seeing the benefit he can bring to the team. He is another along the line of additions we have made since January to give us strength, maturity and game understanding which will benefit us throughout the season."
