Cambridge United are delighted to announce the signing of George Thomas…
The 25-year-old midfielder joins on a contract until the end of the season after leaving QPR earlier today.
Thomas began his career with Coventry City, where he rose through the youth ranks before making 42 appearances as a professional.
A move to Leicester City in 2017 followed, where he spent time on loan at Scunthorpe United and Eredivisie side, ADO Den Haag. Whilst with the Foxes, Thomas also received three senior caps for Wales. His most recent move was to Queens Park Rangers, where he made 46 appearances, including 20 in the Championship last season.
He now makes the switch to Cambridge following the mutual termination of his QPR contract.
“I am delighted to join,” Thomas said. “It’s a great opportunity for me and I have a strong belief in what the Club are doing here.
“All the conversations I have had with people about the Club have been really positive, so I can’t wait to get going and help the team achieve its objectives.”
Mark Bonner said, “George joins us with a real hunger and enthusiasm to play, and to have a strong second half of the season. We have been looking to add more options to the central midfield area and George is an excellent addition.
“He has many qualities with the ball and he will use his experience of this level and higher to help the team. His energy and personality shines through in his performances and having received many glowing references about him, we are pleased that he is with us until the end of the season.”
