Over £2,000 was raised for the British Heart Foundation and Cambridge Charity Fundraisers at the annual Mick George Charity Match, which saw Club legends and former players share the Abbey Stadium pitch with supporters...
Played on Friday 21st April, John 'Shaggy' Taylor, Omer Riza and David Bridges were amongst the former players to grace the event with their presence which included an 11-a-side game on the pitch before a dinner and raffle inside the Abbey Stadium's Signature Suite.
Neil Rowe, Cambridge United Head of Commercial said, "Thank you to the Mick George Group for another great evening of football and fundraising.
"In the decade of sponsorship with Cambridge United, the Mick George Group have raised over £20,000 through this charity football game alone for multiple charities, all with very deserving causes.
"This is always a special evening which gives the supporters an opportunity to live a dream and play on the hallowed turf at the Abbey, while raising money for charity."
Stuart Costello, Mick George Sales & Marketing Director added, "Once again, the Mick George Charity Match turned out to be another terrific occasion, raising a tremendous amount of money for two fantastic causes.
"All of this would not have been possible without the ongoing support of the participating players, spectators and the Club legends that attended on the evening. The match was played in a great spirit which all should be proud of."
