Cambridge United is pleased to announce that Dominic Knighton has been appointed Academy Manager…
Dom has worked within the Cambridge United Academy for five years, most recently as Head of Recruitment. He has experience in coaching, recruitment and overseeing development programmes.
“I am delighted,” Dom said. “The Club and Academy are in a really good place and it’s about continuing that work and making sure we build on it for the future. It’s really important to highlight the success of the Academy over the past few seasons and the players that we have within the system are really exciting. We have some fantastic prospects and I am really looking forward to working with the rest of the team to make the most of their talent and our potential as an Academy.”
Sporting Director Ben Strang said, “Dom has done an outstanding job as Head of Academy Recruitment and has driven that department effectively. His development over the past three years with us, in which he has continuously sought to further develop himself, has been significant. Having excelled in a thorough interview process, we are confident that Dom can continue the positive momentum we see within the Academy.”
In other Academy staff news, the Club is pleased to confirm that Liam Bloye has had his role expanded from Head of Schoolboy Coaching to Head of Coaching, whilst Glenn Quirke has recently joined as Academy Operations Manager.
Meanwhile, Dougie Macandrew will begin work as Commercial Sales Executive this month, supporting Head of Commercial, Neil Rowe on all hospitality and commercial ventures for the Club.
