Cambridge United are delighted to announce the signing of Zeno Ibsen Rossi from AFC Bournemouth for undisclosed terms...
The 21-year-old centre-back joins on a three-year deal to bolster Mark Bonner’s defensive options.
After a youth career at Brentford, Southampton and AFC Bournemouth, Rossi signed his first professional contract with the Cherries in 2019.
In his first year as a senior professional, Rossi joined Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock on loan, where he made 14 appearances for the Club.
During 2021/22, Rossi featured seven times for Bournemouth, including four appearances in the Championship before seeing out the season with a short loan spell at Dundee United.
“I am excited” Rossi said, “I have heard brilliant things about the Club, about the people and about the City. I am really excited to embed myself into that.
“I am coming here to compete and nothing is given. I can’t wait to show what I am about and learn and develop with the other players and coaching staff.”
Mark Bonner added, “Zeno is a prospect we are looking forward to working with and goes in line with our policy of signing players at a similar age in recent seasons, which we have seen the benefit of.
“He is in a brilliant age bracket for learning and his daily exposure to our way of working will only help him further improve as a player. He will be determined to play and find a way into the team - as will the other central defenders - and that competition will serve us well throughout the season.
“Zeno is comfortable in possession, has a good range of passing and has many physical qualities to become a strong defender with us.”
