Cambridge United is delighted to announce that Will Mannion has signed for the Club, subject to international clearance…
The 23-year-old Goalkeeper joins up with the U’s ahead of the 2021/22 season to provide competition for Dimitar Mitov and Kai McKenzie-Lyle.
After playing for AFC Wimbledon’s Academy from the age of 16, Mannion signed for Hull City in 2016 and featured as a loanee for Plymouth Argyle, Aldershot Town and Kidderminster Harriers during his time with the Tigers.
Following his departure from Hull, Mannion joined Cypriot First Division side Pafos last season and after training with United for the past seven days, he has now officially signed for the Club.
“I have been able to train with the lads and see how we play so it has been a good experience,” Mannion said. “I am happy to finally get going as an actual squad member now.
“I will be challenging for number one – that is my aim this season. I have been with Dimi and Kai who are both good lads and good keepers, so it will be good competition for us.”
Mark Bonner said, “We are pleased to add Will to the squad as it creates healthy competition and cover. Will has trained well in the short time he has been with us and now he has to continuing developing as part of the Goalkeeping department.”
Mannion will wear number 25 and has signed on a one-year deal.
