This week sees the Community Trust start a two-week multi-activity camp in partnership with Abbey People. School holidays can be particular pressure points for some families because of increased costs (such as food and childcare) and reduced incomes.
For some children that can lead to a holiday experience gap, with children from disadvantaged families less likely to access organised out-of-school activities and more likely to experience ‘unhealthy holidays’ in terms of nutrition and physical health. Thanks to funding from the government’s Holiday Activities & Food Programme, the Community Trust will provide healthy food and enriching, fun activities for 60 primary school aged children across the Abbey Ward who are eligible for benefit related free school meals.
Soccer Schools recommence this week for boys, girls and goalkeepers as the Club’s Youth Development Team continue to educate and entertain the football-mad children of Cambridgeshire. Click here to see what’s on offer and to book your child’s place.
Finally, Mark Bonner and a First Team player will be speaking to the press on Thursday morning, so keep it at Cambridge-United.co.uk for the latest ahead of Saturday’s big game.
