It’s been a while hasn’t it! Today Cambridge United’s first team squad returned for pre-season testing at the Inc. Training Ground as preparations for the 2020/21 season continued to get underway.
Head Coach Mark Bonner welcomed every member of his squad back, in staggered groups throughout the morning as part of the protocols put in place to train safely in the current climate.
As always, the players were put through their paces by Head of Performance Matt Walker, including a 1,500m run to measure each player’s base level of fitness following the significant period away from action.
The likes of new signings Paul Digby, Wes Hoolahan and Joe Ironside all joined up with the rest of the U's squad for the first time this morning, whilst Paul Mullin has also returned having agreed permanent terms with the U’s in the last month.
The U's players and staff adorned hummel's Chevrons once more, wearing the brand new 2020/21 training wear which this year carries the logo of the nationally recognised mental health campaign Heads Up across the front. Cambridge United announced its partnership with Heads Up in May, as the Club continues to proudly spread the message about positive mental fitness, and the importance of starting a conversation about mental well-being.
