Cambridge United can today confirm the Club’s pre-season schedule in preparation for the 2019/20 Sky Bet League Two season, including a clash against Premier League Leicester City at the Abbey Stadium.
United will host Brendan Rodgers’ Foxes side on Tuesday 23rd July (K.O. 7:30pm), as they return to home soil for the first time to take on the 2015/16 Premier League winners.
The U’s will also welcome East Anglian rivals Ipswich Town back to the Abbey Stadium on Saturday 27th July (K.O. 1:00pm), for what will be the final test ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.
The first team squad will report back for training on the week commencing 24th June and preparations will include a tour to Scotland for a pre-season training camp at Largs, Scotland National Training Centre between 15th – 20th July. The tour will allow United's new look squad to bond and highlights a slightly different approach taken by the Club in their pre-season work under the guidance of Head Coach Colin Calderwood ahead of his first full season in charge at the Abbey. This aligns with the thinking behind the Club's Next Chapter campaign launched earlier this week.
The U’s will also face Nottingham Forest U23s and Fulham in behind closed doors fixtures at the two Championship club’s respective training grounds. Cambridge United will provide supporters with full updates from each fixture across the Club’s social media channels.
Meanwhile, supporters will also be able to get behind the U’s youth team players with a Cambridge United XI featuring in three local fixtures against St Neots Town, Histon and Newmarket Town.

The Club will also provide an update to supporters on potentially two additional fixtures during United’s pre-season tour to Scotland in due course.
