Leon Davies played his final game for Bath City on Saturday as the young full back returns to the U’s following the expiry of his one month loan at the National League South side.
Davies gained another full 90 minutes under his belt on Saturday but could not help the Romans avoid a 2-1 away defeat to Concord Rangers on his final appearance, inflicted on them by a brace from former Luton Town striker Alex Wall.
Winger Tom Knowles has also been on the move too this week. Having not featured in Kettering Town’s fixture against St Ives on Saturday which brought an end to his one month loan at Latimer Park, he now switches to Royston Town on another initial month deal.
Elsewhere, a positive away performance from centre back Sam Goode helped Haverhill Rovers claim a 0-0 draw away at Wroxham who sat third in the Thurlow Nunn Premier prior to kick off. A solid display from Goode and the Rovers’ backline earnt a valuable and determined away point with Rovers currently sit eleventh in the league.
Sam Bennett was also involved in the tie at Wroxham, following his recent switch from Mildenhall to Haverhill. Bennett enjoyed a bright debut and was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet as the Wroxham goalkeeper pulled off a series of tremendous saves to deny the striker.
Ben Worman was also involved in a 0-0 draw, as he played for Bishop Stortford who played host to Bognor Regis Town. Worman played the entirety of an entertaining game in which Stortford will feel done hard by, considering a terrific second half display which saw the blues dominate.
Meanwhile, Jordan Norville Williams and Finley Iron both played the full 90 minutes in a tough, competitive game which ended in a 1-0 defeat away at Stourbridge. Both youngsters were physically pushed in a close encounter in which Stourbridge narrowly had the edge, whilst St Neots will feel they deserved something out of the Evo-Stik South clash.
Lee Watkins played his part for Mildenhall Town in a stalemate 0-0 draw in the local derby against Bury Town. The young midfielder played the full 90 minutes during a cagey encounter at Recreation Way, leading to Mildenhall having to settle for a point, despite Bury going down to ten men with five minutes to go.
Sam Squire played the full 90 minutes as holding midfield for Needham Market against Royston Town, where the young U’s midfielder tasted defeat in a 2-0 away defeat against the Crows on Saturday afternoon. It was an entertaining clash between the two sides, however a late rally from Squire and his side was not enough to prevent defeat for the Marketmen.
Charlie Johnson (Yaxley), Joshua Jeche (Witham Town), Craig Foxall (Soham Town) all played for their respective loan clubs too. Johnson played 90 minutes at centre back for 90 minutes in a 3-3 draw with North Leigh, while Jeche and his side won 1-0 at the expense of Great Yarmouth Town where the United youngster played 75 minutes out wide. Whereas Craig Foxall lost 4-0 for Soham Town against Grays Athletic.
And finally with the ink still drying on his recently signed two and a half year professional contract at Cambridge United, Joe Neal was unfortunately out of action this weekend for Royston Town due to injury.
