ETHOS COMMUNITY HERO OF THE DAY – CRAWLEY TOWN | RUTH FOX

Cambridge United are pleased to reveal the Ethos Community Hero of the Day for tomorrow’s fixture against Crawley Town, will be mental health advocate and CUWFC player Ruth Fox.

In partnership with Cambridge United's Official Match Ball and Website sponsors Ethos, each match day this season will see an individual rewarded for their contribution to sport in the community as the Hero of the Day.

As well as featuring in the match day programme and on the Club's online channels, the Ethos Community Hero of the Day will also be given the opportunity to discuss their contribution across the tannoy and present the official match ball to the referee ahead of kick off.

Ruth, 18, is a mental health advocate who having very recently experienced tough times herself, has turned the tables to tell the world her story through her e-book 'The Unseen Battle', with the aim of inspiring and providing support to others.

As well as playing for Cambridge United's Women's team, she is now an ambassador for the Ollie Foundation, Mental Health FA and is also the Women's Football Mental Health ambassador as part of Cambridge United Community Trust's mental health and well-being project.

This week, Ruth also had the news confirmed that her story 'The Unseen Battle' will be published in paperback, to be released this September. Head to Amazon.co.uk to read Ruth’s story today!

Cambridge United Community Trust CEO, Ben Szreter, commented: "Ruth's work publicising her own personal battle with mental illness is truly inspirational. She has fought through tough times and come out a stronger person wanting to speak to other people to try to stop them experiencing the same problems as her in the future.

"She has a true passion for increasing understanding of mental health both in football and wider society as well as improving access to mental health services. She truly deserves this accolade as well as many others she will undoubtedly receive in the future. I urge you to read her story 'The Unseen Battle' and follow her on Twitter - @FoxInTheBox05 – for further insight into her inspirational story."
