Former Cambridge United striker Barry Corr has today re-joined the U's on a three week non-contract basis, with the Club assessing the 32 year old's fitness until the end of January.
Corr previously registered 14 goals in 29 games for United, quickly becoming a firm favourite with the Amber Army before injury blighted his game time at the Abbey Stadium, culminating in the Irishman's departure after two seasons with the Club last summer.
Having continued to work hard to regain his fitness since then, the Club will now review Barry's ability to handle the workload of first team training throughout the next three weeks at the Inc. Training Ground and are providing the striker with a short-term period in which to prove his fitness.
Corr will also be eligible to play in the U's next three Sky Bet League Two fixtures, beginning with tomorrow's encounter against Mansfield Town at the Abbey Stadium, and also including the away matches to Forest Green Rovers and Coventry City before the end of the month.
Cambridge United Head of Football Operations Ben Strang commented: “Barry has been patient in building his fitness over the last few months. The professionalism, efficiency and dedication of the work completed with Barry by Matt Walker (Head of Performance) and Mikey Burroughs (Head of Medical) has been outstanding in getting Barry to this stage.
"Both the Club and Barry are taking this one step at a time given the obvious challenges he has faced in the last 18 months. Both parties will review the position at the end of January. In the meantime we look forward look forward to Barry joining and contributing to the squad."
Tickets for tomorrow's game are still available online at www.cufcdirect.com, and from the ticket office on match day from 10am right up to kick off.
