ETHOS COMMUNITY HERO OF THE DAY | TOMMY LEGGETT

In partnership with Cambridge United's Official Match Ball and Website sponsors Ethos, each match day this season will see an individual rewarded for their contribution to sport in the community as the Hero of the Day.

As well as featuring in the match day programme and on the Club's online channels, the Ethos Community Hero of the Day will also be given the opportunity to discuss their contribution across the tannoy and present the official match ball to the referee ahead of kick off.

For this weekend’s fixture with Colchester United, the U’s are delighted to welcome back Colchester fan Tommy Leggett.

Last season, United fans may remember that Tommy ran the distance from the Weston Holmes Community Stadium in Colchester to the Cambs Glass Stadium (45 miles) ahead of the clash in Sky Bet League Two to raise awareness for his two-year old son Alfie's condition, Norrie Disease.

Norrie Disease is an inherited eye disorder which unfortunately has left Alfie blind. Tommy successfully completed his run in March, and was greeted by supporters from both clubs who helped to raise a phenomenal £3,000.

We are delighted to welcome back both Tommy himself and his son Alfie, who will join us in Club Cambridge.

Tommy commented: “We are extremely thankful to Cambridge United Football Club and its supporters, for the money they raised last season which has helped Alfie's development so much.

“The funds have helped to pay for his occupational therapy, speech & language therapy and will go a long way to building his sensory room which should be finished by the end of the year.

“We look forward to walking out in front of both sets of fans once again this weekend.”
