Cambridge United taking part in historic Futsal Business Conference

On the 6th and 7th September, Cambridge United Football Club will take part in the World’s First Futsal Business Conference at Prenton Park, Tranmere Rovers FC called the Futsal Focus Network Business Conference.

Futsal Focus (www.futsalfocus.net) is a promotional company for the Futsal industry with close to 60,000 social media followers and thousands more visiting their official website. Futsal Focus has invited executives from around the world to present at the conference, showing development examples of the sport from around the globe such as Thailand, Croatia, Spain, Portugal, Brazil and the United States of America.

And, Cambridge United CEO Jez George has been invited to take part in the conference. Cambridge United are proud of our club’s vision and ambition to continue developing the Futsal section of our Club which has pathways from youth age groups to our first team who will compete in the first ever nationwide national futsal division this year for a place in the UEFA Futsal Cup. Jez will take part on the panel discussion on Day Two which will discuss the current and future needs for Futsal development in England and the UK. Joining Jez on the panel discussion will be:

  • Former Head of the English Football Association and current joint owner of Tranmere Rovers FC, Mark Palios
  • National Futsal Development Manager for the English Football League Trust, Mark Dick
  • Technical Director of Futsal for the FA and the England National Futsal Manager, Michael Skubala
  • Principal Lecturer (Coaching/PE) & Futsal Head Coach for Hartpury College and the England Women’s National Deaf Futsal team, Luciana Silva (Representing the women’s game)

The aims of this conference are:

  • To bring the Futsal community together from across the UK and further afield.
  • To provide an environment for knowledge sharing and networking for the betterment of Futsal to see it grow and develop further.
  • To encourage others who may be interested in Futsal to come and learn about the sport and its growth globally. Hence, the guest speakers coming from the U.S.A, Thailand, Croatia, Spain, Portugal, Brazil and from the UK.

These guest speakers will share their knowledge on club development, the impact of hosting a FIFA Futsal World Cup on Futsal development, player development, launching a professional league, why football clubs should consider getting involved in Futsal and what the future needs for Futsal are in England and the UK.

  • Professional Football Club, Real Betis from Spain who have a professional futsal team
  • The Professional Futsal League launching in the United States of America (Backed by NBA Club owners)
