MATCH REPORT: YEOVIL TOWN 1 CAMBRIDGE UNITED 1

CORR STRIKES LATE LEVELLER TO SECURE POINT

Barry Corr scored his first goal since returning from a 14-month spell on the side lines to level late for Cambridge United against Yeovil Town in Sky Bet League Two.

United trailed going into the closing stages of the match following Francois Zoko’s opener, before Corr popped up in the right place at exactly the right time with a minute left on the clock to secure a point.

Shaun Derry elected to make three changes for the clash against the Glovers, with George Maris, Paul Lewis and Leon Davies moving into the starting line-up.

The hosts took early control of the game with the U’s forced to show their defensive grit and Will Norris on hand to make a series of saves, which included the use of his chest following Bevis Mugabi’s powerful drive at goal on 15 minutes.

Piero Mingoia had United’s best chance of the half when he cut in from the left before curling an effort into the hands of Artur Krysiak.

Tom Eaves twice missed the opportunity to open the scores for Yeovil, when the striker flashed a shot across goal before flicking over with his head ten minutes before the break.

The U’s did show bright spells on the ball, with Leon Davies and Mingoia linking up well at times down the right wing.

Mark Roberts was in the right place to break the deadlock moments before half time when George Maris’ corner delivery fell at the feet of the centre back, but his shot was blocked by a scrambling Yeovil defence.

Following half-time Cambridge United looked like the side who would go on to win the match, with Luke Berry testing Krysiak and Mingoia firing marginally wide.

Corr was introduced on 73 minutes when Uche Ikpeazu hobbled off with a calf problem and was straight into the thick of the action.

However, the Glovers took the lead against the run of play through Zoko with Shaun Derry’s men immediately on the hunt for an equaliser.

Their endeavours were rewarded from a  long Jake Carroll throw, helped on by Leon Legge before the man of the moment, Barry Corr lifted the ball over Krysiak to send the 118 travelling into wild celebration.
