MATCH PREVIEW | COVENTRY CITY | EMIRATES FA CUP

Cambridge United host 1987 Cup winners Coventry City at the Cambs Glass Stadium on Sunday in the Second Round of the Emirates FA Cup.

The U’s head into the clash with four wins from their previous five fixtures in all competitions, and will be looking to overcome their Sky Bet League One opponents to sustain their momentum.

An extra time win over Dover Athletic in the First Round replay at Crabble last month, set up Sunday’s clash with the Sky Blues and puts the U’s within one game of the much anticipated third round draw.

Conor Newton looks likely to miss out again with a hamstring problem whilst Josh Coulson and Medy Elito are the latest players to be added to the U’s long term absentees.

Like United, Coventry City also required a First Round replay to book their place in this weekend’s  Emirates FA Cup tussle.

Having drawn 1-1 with Morecambe at the Globe Arena earlier last month, a brace from Marvin Sordell saw the Sky Blues overcome the Shrimps to reach the Second Round.

The former Bolton man is the top goal scorer for the West Midlands outfit so far this season, with six goals to his tally. However, City are languishing inside the Sky Bet League One relegation zone in 21st position.

Coventry certainly have pedigree in this competition having lifted the trophy at Wembley back in 1987 when Keith Houchen’s diving header famously secured a final win over Tottenham Hotspur.

Meanwhile the last time Cambridge United faced the Sky Blues in the FA Cup, the U’s took the spoils with a 1-0 win in a First Round replay back in 1992.
