Cambridge United vs Basingstoke Town
The U's look to kick off another FA Cup adventure against Basingstoke Town at the Abbey Stadium tomorrow afternoon, in the Emirates FA Cup First Round.
Following last season's excellent run in the competition which included a Third Round win over Luton Town and two clashes with Premier League giants Manchester United, the U's are sure to harbor hopes of another exhilarating journey in the Cup.
Both Josh Coulson and Leon Legge have chances of making their returns from injury in the match, whilst Keith Keane continues his recovery on the side lines.
The visitors, Basingstoke Town, may be disappointed with their start to the season in the League in which they have only secured one win from nine games, but their 2015/16 cup campaign has seen triumph over Slough Town, Chelmsford City and Torquay United to set up tomorrow’s fixture.
Jason Bristow’s men have scored 11 goals in their qualifying round fixtures so far and last season equalled their best ever campaign, so are certainly a side that the U’s will need to
Having never met in a competitive fixture before, United will be looking to register their first win over the Dragons and ensure they enter the pot as ball number five for Monday evening’s Second Round Draw.
Commenting ahead of the fixture, Joe Dunne said: “We have watched Basingstoke play against Whitehawk and Maidenhead, so we know the players, the set up and structurally how they may or may not play at the weekend.
“It is a proper game, so you have to give it due diligence and after all the preparation and talk is done, it comes down to who wants it the most.”
Tickets for the game are available online, in-store or by calling 01223 566 500.
