Brewers clinch title at the Abbey
BURTON Albion were crowned champions at the Abbey Stadium this afternoon, after an eventful game saw the Brewers win 3-2.A minutes applause was held in memory of the late Chris Turner prior to kick-off with over 7,000 packed in to the Abbey.
The visitors started well, Tom Naylor fired wide of Norris after two minutes, before Tom Elliott hit his shot wide for the U's on five minutes.
Burton found the lead through Stewart Beavon on 11 minutes, he headed Damien McCroy's cross headed past Will Norris, before Naylor again came close.
United levelled on 24, Sullay Kaikai whipped in his free-kick after Dunk had been fouled and Tom Elliott rose at the back post to restore parity.
Both sides had decent spells of possession before the end of the half, but the teams went in all square at half-time.

United began the second period on the front foot, but couldn't get their noses in front until the 70th minute. Michael Nelson's through ball found Harrison Dunk who burst through the Brewers defence and was hacked down by McLaughlin in the Brewers goal. McLaughlin saw red and Robbie Simpson drilled the resulting spot-kick past substitute keeper Shearer.
United were looking in control of proceedings before Philip Edwards rifled a superb strike past Norris from 30 yards out. Ten minutes later and Burton secured the points through Kevin Stewart who prodded home from close range.
