Over 300 children enjoy football at the Abbey
On Sunday 3rd May, over 300 children had the opportunity to play on the pitch at the Abbey Stadium in the club’s first ever Elms Cambridge BMW Abbey Stadium Soccer School.
The day kicked off with 60 two to five year old's on the pitch to launch the new Soccer Tots programme, where children can enjoy basic technical coaching through story based games and matches.
This free session gave an incredible first football experience to so many young children as Football Development Manager James Cutting commented – "I think we all remember our first ever football experience and this was certainly a special one for these kids. On the Abbey Stadium pitch, with their very first football shirt, led by a professional coach, with a medal and certificate to boot! It was great to see so many smiling faces, both from the children on the pitch and the proud parents in the stand’’.
Following the Tots session a further two groups of over 125 children attended a three-hour Soccer School.
The club would like to place on record their thanks to the Soccer School sponsors Elms Cambridge BMW for their incredible support of the event and the clubs’ Youth Development programme.
