U's Officially Announce Squad Numbers and Captain for 2015/16
Cambridge United can today confirm the official shirt numbers for the senior first team squad and Mark Roberts as the club captain for the 2015/16 Football League season.
United Manager Richard Money has elected Roberts to wear the captain’s armband for the 2015/16 Sky Bet League Two season. The central defender has led the U’s out on to the field in all pre-season fixtures since arriving at the club and will continue to do so for the forthcoming League campaign.
Having held the captain position at previous clubs Stevenage and Fleetwood Town, Roberts has first-hand experience of leading his side and will look to capably slot into the role once more at the Abbey Stadium.
The 31-year old has been given the number five jersey this season, with fellow new centre back Leon Legge receiving the number six shirt. Striker Barry Corr will take up number 10 whilst the returning Luke Berry has been given number eight.
Ryan Donaldson retains his number seven, and new arrivals Elliot Omozusi, Keith Keane, Danny Carr and Conor Newton receive numbers two, four, 19 and 24 respectively.
