U'S TRAINING AT BUCKLAND ATHLETIC

U's training at Buckland Athletic ahead of Plymouth fixture

FOLLOWING the U's 2-2 draw at Exeter on Tuesday night, the management and players have been staying in Torquay ahead of Saturday's fixture at Plymouth Argyle.

The U's have been training at Western Premier League side,  Buckland Athletic, over the last two days.  Cambridge United are extremely grateful to Buckland Athletic and their groundsman, Simon Glanfield, for their kindness and generosity.

U's Chief Executive, Jez George, said:
"It's a brilliant club, they are fantastic people, really kind, and have been absolutely superb in their generosity towards us.  We were put in touch with them through someone I know, Grant Fisher, who comes from Royston and is a Cambridge United fan.  Grant was a scholar at Torquay and now lives down here and plays for Buckland Athletic.  They built the clubhouse themselves, have excellent facilities and real footballing people, typified by Simon (Glanfield, groundsman), who do it all for the right reasons.  They are rightly proud of their club and facilities.  It has been a pleasure to have met them and we are very grateful to them for their hospitality and help."
