News from the U’s on the road

Rory Gaffney

Striker Rory Gaffney enjoyed a successful afternoon at the Memorial Stadium on Monday, netting a brace of goals to guide Bristol Rovers to a 2-1 win over Leyton Orient.

Two goals in each half of the game against the O’s for the Irishman, means he now improves his goal tally to three goals for the Gas.

Gaffney will be looking to find the net against Luton Town on Saturday afternoon for Darrell Clarke’s side.

Will Norris

Shot stopper Will Norris continues to flourish during his season-long loan at Braintree Town, with the 22-year clinching his twelfth clean sheet of the campaign shortly before Christmas as the Essex side progressed through to the next round of the FA Trophy.

Despite a 1-0 triumph, Braintree did not replicate that result in League action on Boxing Day, with Norris unable to stop Anthony Jeffery scoring a seventh minute goal to give Boreham Wood a 1-0 win.

The goalkeeper and the Trees will however have the opportunity to avenge that defeat, with Boreham Wood the visitors to Cressing Road this weekend.

Danny Carr

Aldershot remain 16th in the National League table, with Danny Carr featuring in both games for the Shots over Christmas.

Carr played 64 minutes in a Boxing Day defeat to Woking, before playing another 73 minutes on Monday against Eastleigh in which the Hampshire side drew 1-1.

If selected, Carr will have the opportunity to bounce back against Woking on Saturday, when the Shots travel to the side placed seventh in the division.
