U's to host Palace in first of five fixtures
AT the end of last season Director of Football, Jez George, embarked on Mission 676, visiting every English Premier League stadium whilst completing 26 consecutive marathons. This huge fundraising effort enabled our Community Trust to engage with a number of local companies and organisations including Cambs FA, the NHS Trust, Sepura, Premier Holidays as well as club shirt sponsors Mick George Skips and ERMS. Over £100,000 was raised to deliver charitable projects within the local community for 2014/15 and beyond.
Next week, we will be announcing a newly appointed Trust Manager to utilise these funds by delivering projects, with our partners, for all cross sections of the local community and to further develop our outreach.
The club would also like to announce that Mission 676 will continue as the fundraising arm of the trust. We will outline various ways in which our stakeholders, players and supporters can be actively involved with our charitable aims over the coming weeks and months, so that you can all engage in our aim of Cambridge United playing a major role in making a better community for our city and the surrounding area.
To kick off a series of initiatives, the club is delighted to announce the first two of five fixtures over the season to showcase our young players against opposition from the Premier League and Championship.
These games, with an earlier kick off time of 7pm to attract younger fans, are against Crystal Palace U21's on Tuesday 7 October and Norwich City U21's on Tuesday 11 November.
We also have an exciting local derby and two more prestigious fixtures to announce in the new year.
Ticket prices will be £6.76 for adults with all Under 16's being admitted free of charge.
