FA Cup first round tie ends in draw
Cambridge United drew 0-0 at Bury in the FA Cup first round this evening.The U's left Greater Manchester unlucky not to secure their place in the second round against Sheffield United after a stalemate at the JD Stadium.
United had the first chance of the game in the first 45 seconds as Appiah was set through on goal but failed to round Bury’s keeper, Jensen.
Cambridge had the most of the possession in the first 15 minutes but the next chance fell for the home side as Craig Jones danced his way past Taylor and Dunk, but Jones’s shot was blocked and the rebound fell to Soares who blasted over.
The first half was a half full of half chances with the next one falling to U’s striker Cunnington who took it down well but his shot just went wide.
Bury tried to find a way through the solid U's defence and chances fell both for Harrard and Hylton but were defended well by the U’s
Bury’s best chance of the half came when the ball was whipped in from the left which found Mayor but his shot ended up over Chirs Maxwell's bar.
Cambridge finished the half exactly how they started with chances falling to Cunningham and Appiah, but not quite testing Jensen in the Bury net.

The second half kicked off with an early chance for the Shakers but Jones saw his header go over Maxwell's bar.
Cambridge had most of the chances in the second half as Appiah played though Hughes but the wide man dragged his shot wide.
Minutes later and it was Appiah's turn to latch onto a loose ball from Miller’s pass but he also put his shot wide.
Appiah once again found himself through on goal but Jensen saved the effort with the rebound coming back off a Bury player and going out for a corner.
Bury’s best chance for fell for Miller as the former Ipswich midfielder shot from 25 yards, but Richard Tait made the clearance.
Cambridge continued to attack the Bury goal as Dunk turned inside and released a shot, which was well saved by Jensen.
The U's lofted balls into the Bury box for the final few minutes but couldn’t find the goal that would have seen them progress into the next round
