Cambridge United Women suffered defeat to Norwich City Ladies in the First Round of the Adobe Women's FA Cup...
The visitors claimed their second win against United this season, with Sunday's loss knocking Marjoram's side out of the competition, despite a valiant and competitive effort from the U's who played much of the match with only 10 players.
Norwich took the lead after just 14 minutes, as Ceri Flye met a floated free-kick in the air to head home and put the visitors in command.
The Canaries had the chance to double their lead 15 minutes into the second half, after a penalty was awarded for a handball from U's centre-back Lauren Rouse, who was shown a red card for the offence.
Stopper Sophie Shults kept United in the contest by denying the penalty with an athletic reach to the bottom left corner, but despite battling hard and creating a number of chances in front of goal to find the equaliser, it wasn't to be for Marjoram's side as the clock ran out and their Adobe Women's FA Cup journey came to an end.
