Cambridge United are pleased to announce the signing of Marko Maroši as the Club's first signing of the 2025 January Transfer Window...

The 31-year-old goalkeeper joins on a deal until the end of the season following the expiration of his contact at Plymouth Argyle.

Maroši joins with a wealth of EFL experience, having started out at Barnoldswick Town before signing for Wigan Athletic in 2013. His stay at the Latics was only short, as he moved on to Doncaster Rovers the following year, where he spent five seasons, making 95 appearances.

Two years at Coventry City followed, which included promotion to the Championship and a PFA Team of the Year inclusion in 2019/20, before moving onto Shrewsbury Town.

Maroši became a fan-favourite at the Croud Meadow, making 148 appearances during his three years at the Club. He signed a short-term contract at Plymouth last summer, and now signs for the U’s until the end of the 2024-25 season.

“I am really happy to join,” Maroši said. “It’s new beginnings now for me and I am excited to be here.

“I have been there [battling relegation] before, it’s not nice to be in this position but it’s up to the team to come together and climb out [of the position].

“Physically and mentally, I am good to go and itching to get going.”

Garry Monk added, “I am very pleased to add Marko to our ranks. He brings quality and plenty of experience at this level and will improve us by adding fantastic competition to our goalkeeping department.”

Marko will wear shirt number 27 whilst with the U’s.
