Carols at the Cledara Abbey Stadium returned last night and saw staff, fans, players, and members of the wider community come together to celebrate the festive period - an embodiment of Simon Cragg's 'United at Christmas' song which was performed on the night along with the Marleigh Primary Academy Choir...
Food and Beverages were provided by the Brewboard Beer Bus and Matchday catering providers, BaxterStory, who created festive food options for the occasion.
First Team players Danny Andrew, Dan Nlundulu and James Brophy were in attendance alongside their families, and Danny Andrew's wife, Milena Cruz-Andrew, spoke alongside Dan Nlundulu on their experiences of the Christmas period as professional footballers or family of footballers, and its religious significance to them.
Club chaplains, Reverend Ben Barton, and Reverend Stuart Wood hosted the evening's service, with speeches and readings from director Graham Daniels, and former Cambridge United Women's player, Harley-Jean Simpson.
The music was led by Simon Cragg and his band, including special features from Marleigh Primary Academy and Lucy Cragg.
The Christmas items made available by Cambridge Charity Fundraisers and Cambridge United Foundation raised approximately £500 from the generosity-based donations, which will be split 50/50 between the two charities. Thank you to all who donated!
Cambridge United would like to thank everyone who attended the event and made it a memorable night. The evening was a fundraiser for Cambridge United Foundation and the work they carry out in our community.
