The full 2023/24 Training Ground Guru Academy Productivity rankings has seen Cambridge United rise up in the table once again...
The rankings feature 86 clubs with the full workings for the number of players each Academy has produced who featured in the Premier League, Championship, League One, League Two and National League last season.
Every Category One to Category Three Academy in England as well as two Category Four clubs are included.
Cambridge United are up four places to 46 from the last set of rankings in 2021/22, and 14 places from 2020/21. This is the fifth addition of the Training Ground Guru’s Academy Productivity rankings and the highest position that the Club has ever achieved.
The ongoing progress continues to highlight the ongoing commitment to producing home grown players from our Academy, with the 2023/24 season seeing Glenn McConnell, Brandon Njoku and Mamadou Jobe make their first team debuts, whilst Liam Bennett’s consistent performances saw him awarded First Team Player of the Season.
Academy Manager Dom Knighton said, "The most obvious measure for an Academy is helping young people to make their first team debuts and go on to have successful football careers and these latest rankings demonstrate the impressive pathway that we have here at Cambridge United and the strides we are making.
"Our Academy is so much more than simply trying to produce players for the first team. We are striving to create an aspirational and nurturing academy that offers lifelong memories along the journey to help develop well rounded, robust young people, who have benefited from a wide range of experiences and whatever the football outcome they can look back at their journey as a positive one.
"While as an Academy and Club we are proud of the progress, it is only part of our overarching vision, and we believe there is so much more development to come."
