Academy lads receive academic results

Cambridge United Scholars with their GCSE results

Cambridge United Academy players, past and present, have within the past week received their GCSE and BTEC final grades…

After two years of hard work. the Club’s First Year Scholars proudly received their GCSE results at the Training Ground on Friday, with positive results across the board.

Meanwhile, our recent scholarship graduates were awarded their BTEC and A-Level results last week, who not only exceeded their initial entry grades, but has also surpassed their BTEC final grades with remarkable success.

One noteworthy achievement to highlight is the 100% success rate among all second-year Sporting Excellence Professional (SEP) apprentices’ qualifications, with each student earning the top mark of Distinction. Their assessment involved a Knowledge Test, Professional Interview and Practical Observation—a great benchmark set by the group.

George Hoddle, Amaru Kaunda, Liam Chadwick, Ronan Ismaili, Patrick Staszewski, and Reece Hipwell all achieved triple Distinction*.

George Scales earned double Distinction*, while Mo Habib achieved DM (Distinction, Merit).

A special mention also goes to Daniel Carey-Evans, who not only completed his BTEC qualification with a double Distinction*, but also excelled in his two A-levels in Maths and Philosophy, achieving an impressive two A’s. His dedication and work ethic truly deserve recognition.

The Club would also like to extend its appreciation to Cambridge Regional College for their invaluable support throughout our young players’ academic journeys.

“I am immensely proud of our First Year Scholars after they received their GCSE results today, Harsh Joshi, Head of Education said. “They have worked extremely hard over the past two years and they deserve to receive plaudits for this.

“I am also very proud of our U18 scholars, who surpassed their initial entry grades whilst demonstrated unparalleled dedication in balancing their rigorous training schedules with their academic responsibilities.

“This remarkable achievement speaks volumes about their hard work and commitment to their education and personal development. Their successes underscore the club's commitment to developing well-rounded individuals prepared for success in all areas of life.

“I am thrilled to highlight the outstanding 100% success rate of our second-year Sporting Excellence Professional apprentices, all achieving Distinction in their qualifications. This group has set a remarkable benchmark for future scholars, and I am excited to see where their journeys lead them next, both on and off the pitch."

Alex Baldwin, Cambridge Regional College Tutor Statement added, "I am delighted that the scholars have achieved a top set of grades in their BTEC qualification. The results are a testament to the hard work and dedication they’ve shown throughout their two-year course.

“It has been an absolute pleasure to teach these boys, who consistently displayed a strong commitment to their studies alongside their football commitments. Their success not only reflects their academic abilities but also sets them up brilliantly for the next steps in their journey. I am incredibly proud of what they have accomplished and excited to see where their talents will take them next."
