Cambridge United are delighted to announce the signing of John-Kymani Gordon until January 2024...
The 20-year-old attacker joins from Crystal Palace to bolster Mark Bonner’s squad ahead of the close of the transfer window.
A product of the Palace youth Academy, Gordon signed his first professional contract in 2020 before receiving an extension two years later in 2022.
After featuring and scoring regularly for the Eagles development team, Gordon joined Carlisle United in January 2023, where he made 17 appearances, scoring twice, including in the club’s Play-Off Semi Final against Bradford City.
This season he has been on the bench for all three of Palace’s Premier League fixtures and now signs for the U’s ahead of Monday’s televised clash with Reading.
“I am delighted,” Gordon said. “Obviously I had a good end to last season and a good pre-season with Palace, so I just want to get back playing and to build on last season. This seems like the perfect Club for that.
“There was other interest but after speaking to the gaffer and hearing about the way he wants to play, it is exactly how I want to play too, so I made my decision.”
Mark Bonner said, “We are pleased with this addition to the squad as we believe John-Kymani can provide another quality attacking option for us, creating a competitive situation in the front line.
“Throughout his loan period, I expect to see him excite supporters with his direct attacking and powerful play. Like many of our forwards, he can play in a number of positions and his qualities suit us perfectly.
“John-Kymani is fit and raring to go having been involved throughout pre-season and the start of the season with the first team at Crystal Palace. Following a successful loan spell last season, he joins us ready to make an impact on the team over the busy months ahead as we head into the autumn.”
Gordon will wear number 27 for the U’s.
