Cambridge United Foundation is pleased to announce the introduction of a ‘United Legacy Fund’...
At the recent Cambridge United Supporters Panel meeting, the suggestion of a charitable legacy fund was discussed to offer supporters who wish to give back to the Club and local community the opportunity to do so.
A charitable legacy is a gift that someone leaves to a charitable organisation in their Will. Cambridge United Foundation is a registered charity (charity number 1137275), established in 2010, that is committed to using the power of sport to enhance the lives of the residents in Cambridge.
Potential legators can choose to make the legacy subject to a specific purpose, as a wish or a condition of the legacy. We ask for this to be requested as a wish rather than a condition in case a situation arises whereby the Foundation are unable to comply with the condition.
Supporters will also be requested to put in writing the reasons for benefiting the charity and ask if/how your family would like to be kept informed with our work to ensure we adhere to your preferences.
Our United Legacy Fund is committed to being honest and respectful when managing enquiries and requests. You will not be pressured into leaving a gift and any discussions can be reviewed if you change your mind. Any information you share with us will remain confidential, unless explicitly agreed otherwise.
Following any memory gifts we receive, donors will be thanked appropriately in a sensitive manner. Where suitable we will extend an invitation to welcome close family to attend an annual fixture in which supporters of the United Legacy Fund are remembered.
You are welcome to inform us if you wish to pledge a legacy in your Will, however we shall not provide legal advice or help prepare the Will as part of the United Legacy Fund.
It is advised that an independent professional advisor is sort to support with the legacy. For further information, please contact foundation@cambridgeunited.com.
