Cambridge United will host West Ham United in the Terry Baker Memorial fixture at the Abbey Stadium on Tuesday 11th April…
United’s U16s face West Ham United’s U16s in the annual tribute match for Cambridge United legend, Terry Baker.
Terry was a former Chairman and Director of the Club, who was a passionate supporter since 1947. His financial support over the years played a vital role in ensuring the Club's survival during some of its most trying times.
Academy Manager Dom Knighton said, "We are delighted to announce full details of our Annual U16 Terry Baker Memorial fixture at the Abbey Stadium against West Ham United. We are looking forward to welcoming again a Football Club with a rich history of developing youth products for their first team. It promises to be an exciting fixture.
“Terry did so much for our Football Club and Academy over a long period of time and we are extremely proud to hold this annual fixture to celebrate the life of Terry. We are looking forward to welcoming the Baker family on the night.”
Val Baker, Terry’s wife has kindly arranged for our Scholars to partake in a Player of the Season and Goal of the Season ceremony to celebrate the achievements of our young apprentices both on-and-off the pitch.
The Terry Baker Player of the Season and Goal of the Season Awards will be presented in the Executive Lounge prior to the game.
“We would like to thank Val and the Baker family for their continued support of the Academy and their contribution to enable our scholars and staff to celebrate this season. Without the support of the Baker family something like this wouldn’t be possible.
“The support that the Academy has received from U’s fans this season has been magnificent particularly on our FA Youth Cup journey and I would encourage fans to get down to the Abbey once again and watch this young group and create a special atmosphere as some of them play on the Abbey turf for the first time.”
Kick-off is at 7pm and tickets for the match are available on the night for just £5 Adults, £2 Children.
