Next Saturday’s game against Charlton Athletic is the Club’s Level Playing Field Unite for Access fixture…
Cambridge United is committed to making the Abbey Stadium as accessible as possible to all supporters and a number of important steps of progress have recently been made in this area.
The Club will be highlighting these facilities and services in the build up to and on the day of the game, whilst celebrating its disabled supporters, players and community participants.
First Team players will wear Level Playing t-shirts during their warm-ups and both captains will enter the pitch wearing ear defenders along with their autistic mascot walk-out buddies.
Adam May is joining the acclaimed ‘Audio for All’ commentary team for the first half of the game, joining our expert group who provide an audio-descriptive commentary for supporters with a visual impairment, additional sensory needs or the elderly. The service is broadcast to all parts of the stadium. For more information or to book onto the service, please click here.
The Community Trust’s Pan-Disability team is soon celebrating their one-year birthday and members of the group will be taking part in a half-time demonstration on the Abbey pitch, showing off their skills in-front of the U’s faithful.
You’ll be able to read more about the team in the Matchday Programme, which will also include other features on the Club's commitment to disability inclusion.
An Autism Awareness demonstration area will be situated in the Kids’ Zone prior to kick-off, which will help educate fans on the various Matchday services on offer to supporters, including free Sensory Bags and the Picturepath Visual Visitor Guide.
Supporters with additional needs that are coming to the game should visit the recently created Accessibility Information Point by the Newmarket Road End turnstiles, which is manned by our brilliant team of volunteers who are passionate about providing the best possible Matchday experience for all supporters, no matter their needs.
