Cambridge United are delighted to announce that Sean Greygoose will join the Cambridge United Women’s section and take the role as Head Coach of the newly formed Under 18s team...
This appointment follows the recent restructure of the Women’s section of the Club to further improve the pathway for developing players.
Sean, a UEFA A License coach, has a significant amount of coaching experience across both Men and Women’s football, including at St Neots Town, Haverhill Rovers, Ely City and in other roles for Cambridge United Women and Girls.
“I am really excited to be part of the new Under 18s set up,” Sean said. “The aim of our U18s programme is to support the journey of players transitioning from Under 16s football into their next phase, within an inclusive and thriving environment.
“The overall ambition is to develop talented footballers through our current pathway, also enabling involvement of other local talented players. Our set up will enable young women to work within a professional environment, while achieving aspirations both on and off the pitch.”
Jenny Horsfield, Women’s Board Chair said, “We are delighted to have someone of Sean’s calibre and experience join the Women’s section and we are really excited about this change in structure and believe it will be of huge benefit to the Club, particularly for our younger players within the pathway.
The new Under 18s team will allow for a more coherent pathway from the current Emerging Talent Centre, which aims to prepare players to be better equipped to step into the First Team. The Under 18s will play in the JPL Warriors League, which holds games on Saturday mornings.
The Club will soon be advertising for other roles within the new Under 18s setup and will be holding open trials for players.
