Cambridge United are delighted to announce the signing of Steve Seddon on loan until the end of the season…
The 25-year-old full-back arrives from Oxford United as the Club’s second January arrival and first loan signing of the season.
After starting his youth career with Reading, Seddon was offered a scholarship at Birmingham City in 2014 before graduating to the First Team.
Although he made a number of appearances for the Blues over the years, Seddon spent much of his time out on loan in League One and League Two with Stevenage, AFC Wimbledon and Portsmouth.
Seddon then signed for Oxford United in 2021 on a permanent deal, where he has since made over 50 appearances. He now joins the U’s for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.
“I am buzzing to get started,” Seddon said. “I want to come in, play as many games as I can and help the team push up the league.
“The Manager has told me about how it’s a good group and a good Club and all the lads have been welcoming to me. Physically I feel fit and ready, so I am looking forward to tomorrow.”
Mark Bonner said, "I am delighted to have Steve join us and add him to the team. He is fit, game-ready and enthusiastic for the challenge.
“We have known about the need to add in the full-back area for a while and with both Harrison and Brandon struggling with injuries, we have been in contact with Oxford United for some time about the possibility of this loan deal.
“We have added a player with good experience at this level and someone who has been training and playing regularly this season. This will give him an opportunity to find more game rhythm and help us achieve our objectives.
“He is a tenacious, whole-hearted individual who will add quality to the squad and his infectious personality will give us a boost as we look to kick on in the months ahead.”
