McGrandles signs on loan

Cambridge United are delighted to announce the loan signing of Conor McGrandles…

The 27-year-old midfielder becomes the U’s latest recruit as he joins from Charlton until the end of the season.

McGrandles came through the Falkirk Academy and signed professional terms with his hometown Club before joining Norwich City in 2014.

After an injury-disrupted spell with the Canaries halted his progress to break into the First Team, McGrandles joined MK Dons in 2017 and Lincoln City in 2020, where he was a key contributor for both sides, making 91 appearances in three seasons for the Dons and 96 appearances across two seasons for the Imps.

After joining Charlton Athletic ahead of the current season, McGrandles now signs with United on loan.

“I am happy to be here,” McGrandles said. “It’s been a challenging few months for myself and the team but I am hopeful that we can push forward together now and make it a really good end to the season.

“I have had a nice welcome and I appreciate the opportunity, so it’s down to me now to repay the Manager’s faith by getting into the team and putting in good performances that help us pick up results.”

Mark Bonner said, “Conor is an energetic midfield player who can get around the pitch, help us regain the ball and link our attacking play. His qualities will make us a better team and we are delighted he is here to help us.

“His experience at this level will be invaluable and he joins ready to impact the team and is enthused by the challenge of the season.

“We have long admired his qualities having played against him in previous seasons and I am looking forward to working with him having been impressed by his eagerness to join us.”
