CUFC Lottery has provided further funds to help pay for upgrades at the Abbey Stadium…
Funds of £3,916 for a new Digital Aural Aide system have also been provided, as the acclaimed Audio for All service will receive a much-needed upgrade.
Home and away supporters with a visual impairment, additional sensory needs or the elderly can receive audio-descriptive commentary courtesy of the Audio for All team.
Expertly trained volunteer fans of Cambridge United provide a highly professional, neutral and entertaining match description for free of charge. The existing Audio for All kit will be donated to a local football club.
In addition to this, a new wireless access point is being installed in the soon-to-be completed Newmarket Road End Fan Zone in-order to efficiently take payments in the food and drink kiosks. £880 has been donated from CUFC Lottery to help pay for the system.
The contributions from CUFC Lottery supports the club’s ability to enhance the fan experience at the Abbey Stadium, building on the recently funded Wi-Fi and PA system improvements at the ground.
Carl Badcock of CUFC Lottery said, “We are only too pleased to support the Club with projects that benefits the fans, improving Matchday experiences at the Abbey. In the case of Audio for All, this represents a great project which ticks all the boxes of what CUFC Lottery is all about.
“We are a small, agile and reactive committee, able to support and facilitate speedy outcomes.”
Cambridge United SLO, Dave Matthew-Jones added, “The drive to improve and modernise the Matchday experience for supporters is one of the main priorities at Cambridge United. The Abbey Stadium facilities have changed very little over the past 20 years and therefore, we are having to play catch-up across all areas of the stadium.
“The Club is extremely grateful for all the support the lottery members and the committee provide to ensure these projects can be successfully completed.”
CUFC Lottery is run in association with Cambridge United Football Club and aims to raise funds for improvements to both Club and fan amenities at the Abbey Stadium, as well as local community projects.
In addition to helping support the Club, lottery players have two chances to take home cash every week, with £100 being given out every Must Win Monday and Friday's Abbey Accumulator presenting one lucky supporter the opportunity to win big.
A third draw has also recently been added - the Midweek Money Can't Buy draw - which takes place twice a month with prizes such as signed shirts and hospitality tickets up for grabs.
