With International Women's Day on Wed 8th Match, Cambridge United is hosting its second Women's Football Weekend fixture for next Saturday's (4th March) home game against Portsmouth...
The Club is proud of its diverse fan base and will be using the game to celebrate its female fans, players and staff, whilst also raising awareness of the campaign, KNOW Violence Against Women.
The United squad will proudly wear KNOW Violence Against Women warm-up vests ahead of kick-off, as a way of raising awareness that violence against women isn’t always physical. The campaign aims to end violence against women and girls across Cambridgeshire and beyond. It's about calling for men and boys to be able to identify misogynistic, harassing and violent behaviour and call it out.
Cambridge United Women have been invited to the match and will take to the pitch at half-time, U12s from the Club's Emerging Talent Centre will be Ball-Girls for the game and two lucky girls will have the opportunity to win a FREE mascot package!
The Matchday Programme will be dedicated to Women in Football and our female fan group, Amber Belles, will be around the Abbey promoting their inclusive supporter group and the wider Her Game Too movement.
Finally, local Girls grassroots sides and Cambridge United Girls teams are invited to the game for just £2 a player!
We want to see as many women and girls in the stands as possible, so if you run a local girls team and would like to take advantage of the offer, please email chloes@cambridgeunited.com for more information.
