Cambridge United Academy Manager Dom Knighton has penned a Thank You to the Amber Army who backed our side throughout this year's FA Youth Cup run...
To all the U’s in attendance at the Emirates last night and to the fans who have supported us throughout our memorable FA Youth Cup run this season, Thank You.
In my privileged role as Academy Manager of this wonderful Football Club, it is my duty to ensure we continue to support the development of all of our players as well as to create memories that will last a lifetime.
Seeing nearly 3000 of the ‘Amber Army’ packed into the Emirates as our team walked out at is a memory that will stay with us for a very long time. You created a magical experience for our young U's and for that you should be incredibly proud.
The connection between the supporters and team was incredible. The passion and grit demonstrated on the pitch was reciprocated in the away end and the atmosphere created will stay with this group forever and stand them in good stead for the remainder of their career's. For that we are truly grateful.
Your support in numbers last night displayed the importance of youth in the culture of Cambridge United Football Club. We all have a collective responsibility to never forget the history of our Academy, where it started and where we continue to build on it.
Our Academy is a family, one that you never leave regardless of where each individual journey takes them. Therefore, it was special to see former youth team players in the crowd last night as well as seeing our young Academy schoolboys being inspired by this current squad.
We expect our staff & players to display the Academy values of being Hardworking, Honest & Humble and all of these values were on display both on the pitch and in the stands last night.
Thank you to Jimmy Unwin and his team of staff who continuously go above and beyond for our players to develop both as footballers and induviduals.
You the fans cheered the boys on continuously throughout and helped us make history for our Club. Thank you for your dedication and support of our young players.
United In Endeavour
