MNGIE bucket collection...

Cambridge United supporters are encouraged to band together and show their support for a U's supporting family that have been affected by an extremeley rare and life threatening disease.

Sisters, Zillah Scorer and Verity Grainger have MNGIE, a rare degenerative genetic disorder with only 200 cases reported worldwide. It affects all areas of their lives and currently there is no treatment nor cure – their older sister Gail's death in 2021 is a constant reminder. She was only 42 years old.

They continue to work and enjoy family life when they are well enough to do so but with constant health implications, relentless medical appointments this can pose a huge challenge.

They are looking to raise money to set up a London-based clinical trial which would enable the enzyme they are missing to be replaced. They have raised one third of the £500,000 needed in a year, but still need more.

We are calling on the Cambridge United family to do what they can to try and push them a little bit closer to their target.

Supporters can either donate with cash at the game on Monday, where bucket collectors will be stationed around the ground, or donate online via their JustGiving page.

Fan Zones and Food/Drink...

Fan Zones in the Newmarket Road End, Main Stand and Habbin are open from 1:30pm, offering supporters space to get together and enjoy a range of culinary and beverage options before kick-off.

New covers have been installed across all three Fan Zones, meaning supporters will be protected from all of the elements throughout the season.

Supporter Behaviour...

To challenge the totally unacceptable presence of football tragedy abuse, for season 2023/24, regulation changes and tough new measures have been introduced which will see people who are found to have committed offences face stadium bans and potential criminal prosecution.

In addition to bans and criminal sanctions, a range of in-stadium, in-classroom and online resources will be rolled out under the ‘Love Football Protect the Game’ banner, to educate adults and children alike about the hurt tragedy chanting causes. Ground regulations have also been updated to incorporate references to tragedy chanting.

The game will also continue its efforts to combat dangerous, illegal and unwelcome behaviour off the pitch, be it in the stands or online. Last season a host of new measures were introduced by authorities which saw enhanced sanctions applied for people identified entering the pitch, using pyros, taking drugs to games, throwing objects or for discriminatory abuse.
