One lucky CUFC Lottery player has won the £4,500 Abbey Accumulator jackpot...
David Senior of Dunmow, Essex, is the lucky U’s fan and was presented with his winning cheque at half-time of yesterday's Cambridge United vs Grimsby Town FA Cup match.
As fate would have it, his first ever U's game was against the Mariners back in 1971.
“I am absolutely delighted,” David said. “I couldn’t believe it! I never win anything so to get this news, ahead of Christmas, is a true blessing.
“I have been playing the CUFC Lottery for three years and before today the most I have won is £10! It’s not even really about winning - it’s about being part of a community effort as the Club really benefits from it, but that’s not to say that I’m not absolutely buzzing!”
CUFC Lottery is run in association with Cambridge United Football Club and aims to raise funds for improvements to both Club and fan amenities at the Abbey Stadium, as well as local community projects.
In addition to helping support the Club, lottery players have two chances to take home cash every week, with £100 being given out every Must Win Monday in addition to Friday's Abbey Accumulator, which David won after 15 months worth of roll-overs.
Future jackpot prizes will be capped at £2,500 and drawn as a Must Win prize, to ensure a jackpot winner will be found at least once a year.
To help make another members Christmas, there will still be a Must Win winner of the Abbey Accumulator on 23rd December, where the jackpot could be £650, and don’t forget, it’s a double Must Win Monday on 28th November, with 2x £100 prizes to be won.
Sign up to the CUFC Lottery from just £2 a week and be entered into both draws whilst helping improving facilities and the fan experience at the Abbey Stadium.
