Cambridge United Academy has appointed Callum Langley as the Club’s new Player Care Manager...

The appointment is a landmark one by the Academy as it brings in a full-time member of staff to lead on player welfare and off-the-pitch support.

Callum’s role will see him work with the players on education, identity, safeguarding, transitioning in-and-out of the Academy and providing ongoing support post-Cambridge United.

He will be responsible for developing a programme that ensures off-field support is structured and co-ordinated, leading to create the best possible experience and environment for our players.

Callum said, “It is an absolute pleasure to join Cambridge United Academy and within a role that shows just how much the Academy is invested in each individual’s personal holistic development. I have received an incredibly warm welcome throughout the Club from staff and players alike and have truly felt the ingrained Academy values of being honest, humble and hard working.

“I am looking forward to getting stuck into the role of Player Care Manager and really helping to support each individual that comes to the Club.

“It is mine and Cambridge United’s shared vision that we develop every player on a personal level as to ensure that they have skills and memories that they will hold with them throughout their lifetime.

“Being part of the Cambridge United family is something that we are passionate about and ensuring every young person that comes through our doors leave’s a better, more rounded individual than when they arrived; allowing them to thrive in whichever future path they choose to pursue.”

Academy Manager Dom Knighton added, “As an Academy we are really pleased to have been able to appoint Callum to lead our Player Care Department. We want to develop well-rounded individuals to help them develop their full potential on and off the football pitch and we believe that the growth in this area will enable us to do this.

“Callum excelled in a thorough interview process and we are really confident that he will help drive our Academy forwards through his work.”
