Cambridge United are delighted to announce that from Wednesday 9th November as part of our wider package of support for Seniors, we will be setting up a Forever United Café from 11am-1pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays...
With the support of Cambridge City Council’s Provision of Warm Spaces Winter Grant, we will be opening up the Signature Suite, sponsored by A2B Taxis, as a warm and welcoming place for local people to access.
We know communities across Cambridge have a difficult winter ahead, with the ongoing cost of living rise and cost of energy disproportionally affecting seniors who might be isolated in their homes. We will be supplying hot drinks and our hope is that this Forever United Café will give seniors in the Abbey Ward somewhere warm and welcoming to visit during the colder months.
Simon Wall, Community Trust Community Engagement Manager, said, “The rising cost of living is having an impact on everyone and we understand that many seniors may feel they are struggling to cope.
"Over the past 3 years, we have worked hard to create a programme of support called Forever United to combat social isolation amongst seniors. This Café is another opportunity for seniors to to keep warm, eat and drink and socialise with other people.”
Forever United, supported by the EFL Trust and previously by Cambridgeshire County Council, brings people in their retirement years together to socialise and do the things that they enjoy. Maintaining friendships and being socially active are important parts of healthy, happy ageing and Forever United allows us to do precisely this.
