Cambridge United has signed James Holden on a two-year deal…
The 20-year-old goalkeeper joins from Reading to provide competition for Dimitar Mitov and Will Mannion in the U’s goalkeeping ranks.
Holden started his career at Bury before joining the Royals where he has since spent time out on loan with Bognor Regis, Bracknell and Maidenhead to gain First Team experience.
“It was quite an easy decision for me,” Holden said. “I just want to push them (the other goalkeepers) as much as possible, get them to push me, develop as much as I can and see what opportunities come about.”
Mark Bonner said, “James' potential excites us and he joins hungry to continue fulfilling that in a first team environment, having already experienced some good loan spells in non-league.
“We look forward to seeing that progress as he works with Dimitar and Will under the tutelage of Martin Davies.”
Holden is the Club’s first new signing of the Summer Transfer Window.
